Tips for getting more and paying less for wireless services September/October 2003
in this issue
Greetings!

We've got some great news for those who would like to get more for less in wireless communications! In our role as a wireless systems integrator, we have the ability to address all of your wireless needs - cellular, on-site 2- way communications, vehicle tracking, specialized software, high speed Internet, alternative office telephone service, and much, much more!

Maybe the term wireless integrator is new to you. To help you understand what we do, we will share a real scenario involving a large wholesale distributor. The original customer objective was to simply improve upon an existing wireless dial up system used by outside sales representatives to enter orders directly on line. This user wanted to investigate the use of high-speed cellular data services with a high level of security and the ability to inhibit access only to the company web site. We will take you through the process on a step- by-step basis. Hopefully, this can solve a similar problem for YOU!

Getting to know you!

It's hard to tell someone what he or she might do to improve efficiency unless you know the current situation. Therefore, we feel the best starting place is to learn a little more about you, starting with an evaluation of your current cellular use. We understand the term cellular can broadly encompass wireless phone service, push-to-talk communications, wireless data, 2- way messaging and paging. By helping us understand your current usage, we can make recommendations to improve your service and cut costs.

A lot has changed in just the last few months. Nextel is no longer the only provider of push-to-talk service. Others have taken the lead in data communications, and there are some new leaders in more affordable plans for group users. There is an easy way to find out if you are getting the best value in cellular. Click on the Free Cellular Evaluation selection in the Quick Links section or on the link below. Complete the form and return to us. You'll be glad you did!

What's new in wireless data communications!
The trend in mobile office wireless communications is moving in two directions - personal and mobile. For true portability, the self contained PC and cell phone is rapidly becoming the choice of mobile professionals. The Hitachi G1000 shown here has a complete Windows Pocket PC operating system with all the popular Microsoft programs including WORD. EXCEL, and OUTLOOK, as well as the popular EXPLORER browser.

Basic Business Connection software is included for use on the Sprint 3G digital data network, the most expensive high-speed network in the USA!

Public safety users and delivery type applications often favor the use of a laptop or mobile terminal type system as opposed to a pocket device. For these users we offer a device known as an Aircard (shown below) that is compatible with any PC with a PCMCIA Type II connector card.

Users who require a higher level of security, constant connection over a prolonged period of time, and the ability to restrict access to a corporate web site should consider the NetMotion software package available as an option, not only for Sprint, but for other wireless data providers as well.

NetMotion keeps your data flowing
NetMotion Mobility 5.0 delivers improved mobility management capabilities to properly secure and enable productive wireless local-area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) data solutions. Version 5.0 adds a number of enhancements, the most important of which is Policy Management (an add-on module that is licensed separately):

Policy Management allows centralized, flexible control over what users and applications are allowed to do in wired and wireless network environments. System administrators can enforce IT and corporate security policies on mobile devices that are consistent with the security policies of the organization. Client-based polices allow the system administrator to better manage mobile devices, mobile users, bandwidth usage, and costs associated with a mobile deployment, particularly with multi-network systems.

It also allows the system administrator to manage end- user productivity by controlling which applications are allowed to pass traffic on the mobile device. Policies comprise a rule or set of rules that control client behavior. They can be applied globally, or to particular device classes, devices, or Mobility users. A rule defines the system state or condition, the target(s) of the network activity, and the action(s) to perform when the condition is satisfied.

We can show you how to apply NetMotion to any wireless application to provide a better connectivity level, more security, and enhanced control. That's our job - helping you operate your business more efficiently!

Introducing Renew!
We recently received the radio shown above from one of our customers. It wasn't working. Our customer wanted to know what it would take to get it working. We appreciate the fact that he entrusted us to do the right thing. If you have been wondering whether to keep your old radio, make major repairs, or consider a new one, we think you might find this program to be of interest.

The question is what IS the right thing? Does it mean we should just charge him whatever it costs? Or should we tell him that the cost of repairs would be more than the radio was worth, or should we advise him to replace his radio with a new one? The truth is that all the answers can apply. We think you should be given the information required to make an informed decision. That is why we came up with the ReNew program.

Canopy wireless broadband goes the last mile!
One of our newer products is Canopy, a wide area broadband distribution system. The most common use is for making high speed Internet access available to secondary locations. By making high speed Internet access available to business users, we can offer a variety of services to enhance overall capabilities.

Notably, the network can be used to support IP based telephone service (See VoiceGlo below). Remote premise monitoring with low cost IP based cameras fits in well for security use. Remote gate control with voice communications and a variety of other applications are a breeze with Canopy.

Elimination of costly leased T1 phone or fiber circuits is one of the more cost effective uses of Canopy. Click on the link below for more information, or if you prefer, call us for more information at 1-800-489-2611.
